What Is the BITMAN General Series? Everyday Screwdriver Bits for DIYers

Every screwdriver bit in your toolbox does the same job on the surface: it drives a screw. But the steel it is made from, how hard it is, and how it behaves after months of use are what really separate one bit from another. That is exactly what the General, Pro and Ultra tiers on the BITMAN range are about  three performance levels, each built for a different kind of user and a different kind of workload.

In this first article we look at the BITMAN General series, the everyday entry point of the range.

What is the General series?

The General series is BITMAN’s everyday line of screwdriver bits, designed for regular fastening work around the home, the workshop and light maintenance. It is the “daily driver” of the range: dependable, easy to replace, and priced for people who need a solid bit without paying for performance they will never use.

The steel and the hardness

The General bits are made from G1 steel, heat-treated to a hardness of HRC 59. That is a comfortable, well-balanced hardness for everyday screwdriving  hard enough to hold a Phillips or Pozi profile without premature wear, yet forgiving enough to stay tough through repeated use.

The surface also carries a rust-protection finish. Bits live in tool drawers, damp sheds and storage pouches where moisture is always a risk. That protective coating helps keep the steel from corroding during daily use and between jobs, so a bit that sits in the drawer for a week is still clean and ready when you pick it up.

Who is the General series for?

The General series is aimed squarely at DIYers and home users:

  • Household repairs furniture, cabinets, fittings, light DIY assembly
  • Occasional maintenance around the house or garage
  • Anyone who wants a dependable bit they can replace cheaply without over-thinking the choice

What does the range include?

The General series currently ships as 2-packs of PH2-PH2 double-ended impact power bits in three working lengths:

  • BITMAN General 65 mm PH2-PH2 order BPH2065-GER
  • BITMAN General 90 mm PH2-PH2 order BPH2090-GER
  • BITMAN General 150 mm PH2-PH2 order BPH2110-GER

The double-ended design gives you two usable ends per bit, and the 10-pack format means you always have spares on hand ideal for the DIY user who does not want to restock every month.

General vs Pro vs Ultra: where does it fit?

Think of the three tiers as a ladder. The General series covers routine work at HRC 59. If your jobs are tougher or your tool runs harder day in and day out, step up to the Pro series (S2 steel, HRC 62); if you are into the most demanding fastening with high-torque 40 V tools, the Ultra series (D1 steel, HRC 63) is the top rung.

For now: if you screw things together regularly and want a reliable, affordable everyday bit, the General series is your starting point.
